Key Features
The RDL DB-TPS2A is a black active two-pair sender designed to place a stereo unbalanced audio source onto an RDL TP Format-A twisted-pair system. Its two 10 kΩ RCA phono inputs accept nominal -10 dBV audio, with the left channel assigned to signal pair B and the right channel assigned to pair C. Studio-quality precision active balanced circuitry, flexible power connections, and signal-and-power pass-through support dependable integration with connected Format-A modules.
This model is suited to installed audio systems that need to transport a stereo RCA source through twisted-pair cable. It provides a direct interface for two-channel consumer-level or other -10 dBV unbalanced audio equipment while retaining defined left and right routing within a Format-A installation. Its ability to daisy-chain with single-pair senders also supports systems that combine this stereo source with additional Format-A audio channels.
The DB-TPS2A combines two inputs, active balancing, audio transport, and power distribution in one module. The left input consistently feeds pair B, while the right input feeds pair C, making channel assignments clear during system design and troubleshooting. RJ45 connections provide signal and power pair pass-through on applicable D- and DS-series configurations. The unit can receive power remotely through twisted-pair cable or from a local 24 Vdc connection. When locally powered, its fused power feed supplies connected modules.
Audio sources connect through two RCA phono inputs. Format-A input and output connectivity is provided through RJ45 connections for D- and DS-series configurations; the EM configuration uses a detachable terminal block for its output, and its Format-A input arrangement differs. Power can enter through either the detachable terminal block or RJ45 connection. Recommended supplies are the PS-24AS for the USA and PS-24AX for international use.
The power requirement is 24 Vdc at 65 mA plus the requirements of connected loads. A blue power indicator confirms that the module is powered. The specified minimum mounting-box depth is 2.4 inches for D- and DS-series configurations and 39 mm for the EM configuration. Overall dimensions are 1.6 inches wide, 4.11 inches high, and 1.89 inches deep. The rated ambient operating range is 0°C to 55°C.
The DB-TPS2A provides 12 dB of gain and accepts a maximum input level of +10 dBV. Its frequency response extends from 20 Hz to 50 kHz within ±0.5 dB. THD+N is specified below 0.05% from 20 Hz to 50 kHz, while noise below +4 dBu is specified below -95 dB. Headroom above +4 dBu exceeds 18 dB. Crosstalk is specified below 90 dB at 1 kHz and below 75 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. These documented figures define the module’s operating performance across and beyond the audible frequency range.
Unlike a passive input interface, this sender uses precision active balanced circuitry to place two unbalanced channels onto separate Format-A pairs. It also carries power alongside the audio path and passes both signal and power pairs through its connections. That combination enables remote powering, locally fused power distribution, and daisy-chaining with single-pair senders without changing the fixed pair assignments. The dedicated power indicator provides immediate confirmation of operating status, while the black finish identifies this DB-TPS2A configuration.
The DB-TPS2A provides a defined path for integrating a two-channel -10 dBV RCA source with an RDL TP Format-A system. Its pair B and pair C channel routing, 20 Hz to 50 kHz response, 12 dB gain, remote or local powering, fused power feed, and RJ45 pass-through address both audio performance and system integration requirements in one active sender.
