Key Features
The RDL DS-TPS2A is a stainless-steel active sender designed to place two channels of unbalanced audio onto an RDL TP Format-A twisted-pair connection. Its two RCA phono inputs accept nominal -10 dBV signals, with the left channel assigned to Format-A pair B and the right channel assigned to pair C. Studio-quality precision active balanced circuitry, RJ45 signal and power pass-through, and flexible local or remote powering support structured audio installations requiring stereo source connectivity.
This model is suited to systems that need to carry a stereo RCA source through an RDL TP Format-A installation. It is particularly applicable when two unbalanced channels must occupy the defined pair B and pair C positions while other signal or power pairs continue through the RJ45 connections. Its support for daisy-chaining with single-pair senders also makes it useful when multiple Format-A signals need to be combined within a connected system.
The DS-TPS2A combines two phono-jack inputs, active balanced circuitry, and power distribution functions in one module. Each 10 kΩ unbalanced input is configured for -10 dBV audio and supports a maximum input level of +10 dBV. The circuit provides 12 dB of gain before delivering the channels as an RDL TP Format-A output. A blue LED indicates that the module is powered, providing immediate confirmation of its operating state.
RJ45 connections provide Format-A input, output, and signal-and-power pair pass-through for the DS model. The left input feeds pair B, while the right input feeds pair C, establishing a fixed and clearly defined channel assignment. Power may arrive remotely through the twisted-pair cable or locally through the detachable terminal-block connection. When powered locally, the fused power feed supplies connected modules through the system. The module requires 24 Vdc at 65 mA plus the requirements of connected loads.
Recommended power supplies are the PS-24AS for the USA and the PS-24AX for international use; the power supply is not included. The DS-TPS2A measures 1.6 inches wide, 4.11 inches high, and 1.89 inches deep. The listed minimum mounting-box depth for D- and DS-series models is 2.4 inches. Its specified ambient operating range is 0° C to 55° C.
The active circuitry delivers a frequency response of 20 Hz to 50 kHz within ±0.5 dB. THD+N is specified at less than 0.05% from 20 Hz to 50 kHz, while noise below +4 dBu is less than -95 dB. Headroom above +4 dBu is greater than 18 dB. Published crosstalk figures are less than 90 dB at 1 kHz and less than 75 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Together with the fixed pair assignments and 12 dB gain, these specifications define the module’s audio performance throughout its stated operating bandwidth.
Unlike a passive stereo connection panel, the DS-TPS2A uses precision active balanced circuitry to place two unbalanced RCA inputs onto separate Format-A pairs. It also passes signal and power pairs through its RJ45 jacks, accepts either remote or local power, and can distribute fused local power to connected modules. Daisy-chain support with single-pair senders provides another integration option when building a larger Format-A signal path. This specific model is supplied with a stainless-steel finish.
The RDL DS-TPS2A brings together stereo RCA input connectivity, defined Format-A pair routing, active 12 dB gain, and adaptable power handling. It is a focused choice for installations requiring left audio on pair B and right audio on pair C, along with RJ45 pass-through and support for connected Format-A modules. Its documented wide frequency response, low THD+N specification, power indicator, and compact dimensions provide clear technical criteria for system planning.
