The RDL D-TPS2AM is designed for installations that need to place a balanced microphone and an unbalanced stereo source onto an RDL TP Format-A connection. Its female XLR input accepts microphone signals, while the stereo mini-jack accommodates left and right line inputs. The microphone is assigned to Format-A pair A, and the line inputs are summed to mono and assigned to pair B. This combination is well suited to systems requiring two distinct source types through one RJ45 output. The microphone input also provides IEC 24 Vdc phantom power for compatible connected microphones.
The D-TPS2AM combines flexible input handling with defined gain options in a compact form. Microphone gain is selectable from the rear panel between 50 dB in NORM mode and 63 dB in HIGH mode, supporting microphone input levels from -45 to -65 dBu. The line section provides 12 dB of gain for a nominal -10 dBV unbalanced source and accepts up to +8 dBV. A power-in indicator gives immediate confirmation of incoming power. The XLR female connector uses gold contacts, while the RJ45 carries the RDL TP Format-A output.
The sender measures 1.6 inches wide, 4.11 inches high, and 1.89 inches deep. Installation requires a mounting box with a minimum depth of 2.4 inches. Power connections are available through a detachable terminal block and RJ45 connection. The specified requirement is 24 Vdc at 65 mA plus the requirements of connected loads. Recommended power supplies are the PS-24AS for the USA and PS-24AX for international use; the power supply is not included. Once connected, pair A carries the microphone signal and pair B carries the mono sum of the unbalanced left and right line inputs.
The microphone path has a frequency response of 100 Hz to 30 kHz within ±1 dB and includes an integral low-cut filter rated at -10 dB at 30 Hz. The line path extends from 20 Hz to 50 kHz within ±0.5 dB. Headroom is greater than 18 dB above +4 dBu. Noise below +4 dBu is specified at less than -80 dB for the microphone in NORM gain, less than -70 dB in HIGH gain, and less than -95 dB for the line input. THD+N is less than 0.1% for the microphone from 80 Hz to 20 kHz and less than 0.05% for the line path from 20 Hz to 50 kHz. Microphone CMRR is greater than 60 dB in HIGH gain and greater than 65 dB in NORM gain from 50 Hz to 150 Hz.
Rather than dedicating both Format-A pairs to identical input types, the D-TPS2AM places a balanced microphone on one pair and a summed stereo mini-jack source on the other. The microphone input has a 1.2 kΩ balanced impedance with IEC 24 Vdc phantom power, while each unbalanced line input has a 10 kΩ impedance. Maximum microphone input level is -40 dBu in HIGH gain and -28 dBu in NORM gain. The combination of separate signal-pair assignments, selectable microphone gain, line amplification, and an integral microphone low-cut filter provides a clearly defined interface for mixed microphone and line-source requirements.
