Key Features
The RDL DS-TPR2A is an active two-pair receiver for RDL FORMAT-A twisted-pair audio systems. It extracts two channels from the incoming FORMAT-A signal, routing Pair B to the left output and Pair C to the right output. Both channels are presented as unbalanced -10 dBV RCA phono outputs with a 100 Ω output specification. The stainless model combines studio-quality precision active balanced circuitry with flexible signal distribution and power-management features.
This receiver is suited to FORMAT-A installations that need left and right analog audio delivered to equipment with RCA phono inputs. It provides a practical interface when the required channels are carried on signal pairs B and C and must be converted to unbalanced -10 dBV outputs. RJ45 signal and power pair pass-through also supports systems in which the FORMAT-A connection must continue to another receiver instead of terminating at the first output point.
The DS-TPR2A combines two-channel audio recovery, active balanced circuitry, pass-through connectivity, and multiple powering methods in one module. Its left and right output assignments are clearly defined: Pair B supplies the left channel, while Pair C supplies the right channel. A blue power LED provides immediate confirmation that the module is powered. The receiver can be remotely powered through the twisted-pair cable or powered locally through its detachable terminal block, allowing its installation method to match the FORMAT-A system layout.
The FORMAT-A input connects through RJ45 on the DS model, and an additional RJ45 provides FORMAT-A output for signal and power pair pass-through. This arrangement allows the receiver to be daisy-chained with additional FORMAT-A receivers. Audio equipment connects through the two RCA phono output jacks. Power can arrive through RJ45 or through the detachable terminal block. When local power is used, the fused local power feed supplies connected modules as well as the receiver. The power requirement is 24 Vdc at 45 mA plus the requirements of connected loads. Recommended power supplies, which are not included, are the PS-24AS for the USA and PS-24AX for international use. The module measures 1.6 inches wide, 4.11 inches high, and 1.89 inches deep. A minimum mounting-box depth of 2.4 inches applies to the DS model.
The DS-TPR2A has a specified frequency response of 10 Hz to 50 kHz within ±0.1 dB, supporting accurate transfer across and beyond the audible frequency range. THD+N is less than 0.005%, while noise below +4 dBu is specified at less than -90 dB. Available headroom is greater than 18 dB above +4 dBu. Common-mode rejection is greater than 80 dB from 50 Hz to 150 Hz, reflecting the benefit of its precision active balanced input circuitry. The published crosstalk specification is less than 90 dB at 1 kHz. Operation is specified for ambient temperatures from 0° C to 55° C.
This model does more than provide a pair of RCA outputs. Its RJ45 pass-through preserves both signal and power pairs for downstream modules, while daisy-chain compatibility makes it possible to add FORMAT-A receivers along the connection. Remote powering can reduce the need for a local supply at the receiver location. Where local power is more appropriate, the detachable terminal-block input and fused feed provide a defined way to power the receiver and connected modules. These capabilities distinguish the DS-TPR2A from a simple passive connector adapter.
The RDL DS-TPR2A is a focused solution for recovering a stereo pair from FORMAT-A pairs B and C and delivering it through two unbalanced -10 dBV RCA phono outputs. Its wide frequency response, low THD+N, strong common-mode rejection, RJ45 pass-through, selectable remote or local powering, and blue power indication make it well specified for FORMAT-A audio integration where both output quality and downstream system continuity matter.
