Key Features
The Williams AV Digi-Wave 400 Series Interpretation System is configured for one presenter and ten listeners. It combines 2.4 GHz wireless transmission, encrypted operation, portable receiver power, and dedicated audio connections for interpretation. The stated range reaches up to 900 ft (274 m), depending on environmental conditions. Its component specifications separate the listening and presenting roles: the DLR 400 ALK receiver runs on alkaline batteries, while the presenter transceiver uses a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery.
This configuration fits interpretation sessions in which one presenter needs to reach a defined group of ten listeners. It is appropriate when attendees need individual audio through headphones, earphones, or a neckloop connected to the receiver’s 3.5 mm output. The portable format and stated wireless range also support sessions spread across larger rooms or movement-based environments, provided local RF conditions allow it. Group and channel status appears on the receiver LCD, giving the operator direct visibility into battery level, RSSI, and the selected group or channel.
The system combines long receiver runtime with rechargeable presenter operation. Each alkaline receiver uses two AAA batteries and provides up to 30 hours of operation with the specified BAT 010-2 alkaline batteries. An automatic sleep mode activates after five minutes without an RF signal from compatible devices. The transceiver’s built-in 1800 mAh lithium-polymer battery provides up to 16 hours of talk time per charge when operating with one transmit and one receive channel. Approximate charging time is five hours.
Security controls include 87-bit encryption for 300 Series compatibility, 87+128-bit encryption, an encryption PIN, and a settings lock. These features support controlled interpretation channels while retaining compatibility with designated earlier Digi-Wave equipment.
Audio is distributed wirelessly over the 2.4 GHz ISM band. The transceiver operates from 2402 to 2476 MHz using FHSS and provides up to 19 dBm RF output. For presenter audio, it includes an internal microphone that is disabled when the microphone jack is engaged. The 3.5 mm microphone connection supports an electret microphone with bias and offers adjustable gain across a 63 dB range. USB-C provides an adjustable line input and line output.
Listener audio is available through a 3.5 mm TRRS jack with mono output for headphones, earphones, or a neckloop. The specified maximum receiver output is 27 mW at 32 ohms. The receiver is compatible with DLT 400 and DLT 300 units. Listed compatible receivers for the transceiver are the DLR 400 RCH, DLR 400 ALK, DLT 300 with some limitations, and DLR 360 with some limitations. Charging connections on the transceiver include USB-C and two contacts for use with the CHG 412.
For transport and storage planning, the listed copolymer case has exterior dimensions of 15.7 inches wide by 19.7 inches long by 7.2 inches high. Its empty weight is approximately 6.6 lb (3 kg).
The alkaline receiver delivers an interpretation-mode frequency response of 100 to 11,200 Hz. Its intercom-mode response is 100 to 7,300 Hz, with a listed 74 dB A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio and typical total harmonic distortion of 0.1%. An internal antenna keeps the receiver profile compact, while its dimensions of 2.36 inches wide by 3.54 inches high by 0.63 inches deep support portable use.
For the transceiver, interpretation, tour, and hearing-assistance operation with four or fewer microphones provides a stated response of 100 to 11,500 Hz. Other modes provide 100 to 7,200 Hz. The 3.5 mm TRRS headphone output is rated at 25 mW into 32 ohms. An OLED indicator, illuminated Talk button, and bi-color top LED communicate operational status.
The defining combination is its mixed power strategy, encrypted 2.4 GHz operation, and compatibility across selected Digi-Wave generations. Alkaline listener receivers can operate for up to 30 hours, while the presenter transceiver can be recharged through USB-C. The receiver’s automatic sleep mode helps conserve battery power when no compatible RF signal is present. Encryption options, PIN control, and a settings lock add configuration safeguards without removing support for specified 300 Series equipment.
The DWS INT 2 400 ALK is a focused portable interpretation system for one presenter and ten listeners. It offers up to 900 ft of stated range, clear device-status displays, flexible microphone and line connections, and separate power arrangements suited to presenter and listener roles. Williams AV backs the system with a two-year warranty against component failure and manufacturing defects, subject to the full warranty terms.
