Key Features
The Williams AV Digi-Wave 400 Series Interpretation System is a portable, secure wireless listening solution configured for two presenters and 20 listeners. Operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band, it combines encrypted communication, flexible audio connections, status displays, and distinct power options for presenter and listener devices.
This configuration is suited to interpretation assignments that require two presenter positions and a defined audience of up to 20 listeners. Its portable format supports conference, court, tour, hearing-assistance, and temporary meeting applications. Wireless range extends up to 900 ft (274 m), depending on environmental conditions, allowing the system to serve both compact rooms and more widely distributed listening areas.
The Digi-Wave 400 platform combines audience capacity with detailed control over wireless access and device operation. Key capabilities include:
Deployment centers on coordinating the selected group or channel and connecting the appropriate audio accessories. The receiver provides a 3.5 mm TRRS jack with mono output for headphones, earphones, or a neckloop. The transceiver also has a 3.5 mm TRRS headphone connection and supports an internal microphone or an external electret microphone through its 3.5 mm microphone jack. The internal microphone is disabled when the microphone jack is engaged, and microphone gain is adjustable across a 63 dB range.
USB-C provides an adjustable line input and line output on the transceiver, as well as a charging connection. Two charging contacts support use with the CHG 412. Where a CHG 404 is used, it accommodates four units, accepts USB Type-A plugs with suitable USB-C or micro-B device cables, and provides individual blue LED charging indicators.
The receiver operates on the 2.4 GHz ISM band using FSK modulation. Its listed audio frequency response is 100–7,300 Hz in intercom mode and 100–11,200 Hz in interpretation and other modes. Receiver performance includes a 74 dB A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio and 0.1% typical total harmonic distortion. Its headphone output delivers up to 27 mW at 32 ohms.
The transceiver operates from 2402–2476 MHz using FHSS and provides up to 19 dBm RF output. Its audio response is 100–11,500 Hz for interpretation, tour, and hearing-assistance operation with four or fewer microphones, and 100–7,200 Hz in other modes. The transceiver headphone jack is rated at 25 mW into 32 ohms. Talk-button operation is identified by a red surrounding LED, while a second bi-color indicator changes between green and red. Side tone is set 6 dB below volume and offers off, low, and high tone settings.
The system uses separate power strategies for listeners and presenters. The alkaline receiver platform runs on two replaceable AAA batteries and is rated for up to 30 hours with BAT 010-2 alkaline batteries. The transceiver uses a built-in 1800 mAh lithium-polymer battery with smart charging, delivers up to 16 hours of talk time under the stated channel configuration, and requires approximately five hours to charge.
Compatibility extends to DLR 400 RCH and DLR 400 ALK receivers. DLT 300 and DLR 360 models are also listed as compatible with some limitations. This provides a defined migration path for environments using selected earlier Digi-Wave devices.
For interpretation deployments requiring two presenters and 20 listeners, the Digi-Wave 400 Series provides encrypted 2.4 GHz communication, up to 900 ft of environmentally dependent range, long alkaline receiver runtime, rechargeable presenter operation, and accessible group, channel, battery, and signal information. Its microphone, headphone, neckloop, and USB-C connections accommodate multiple spoken-audio workflows without changing the core wireless platform.
