Key Features
The Williams AV Digi-Wave 400 Series Tour Guide System is a portable, rechargeable wireless intercom solution for up to 12 people. Participants can talk and listen to one another wirelessly, while frequency-hopping spread spectrum operation supports communication in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. With compatible DLT 400 transceivers and DLR 400 RCH receivers, the system combines two-way communication, extended operating range, rechargeable power, and configurable security.
This model is designed for guided tours and other group communication applications that benefit from interactive conversation instead of one-way listening. Its listed operating modes include Tour, Interpretation, and Hearing Assistance. The system supports as many as 12 units and offers a wireless range of up to 900 feet, or 274 meters, depending on environmental conditions. That combination gives guides and participants room to communicate while moving through a tour environment.
The Digi-Wave 400 operates from 2402 to 2476 MHz using FHSS modulation in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. Its security features include 87-bit encryption for 300 Series compatibility, 87-bit plus 128-bit encryption, an encryption PIN, and a settings lock. Rechargeable Lithium Polymer power provides up to 16 hours of talk time per charge when operating with one transmit channel and one receive channel. Auto Sleep Mode activates after five minutes without an RF signal from compatible devices, although this behavior can be turned off in Advanced Settings.
The system works with DLT 400 transceivers and DLR 400 RCH receivers. Compatible receiver options also include the DLR 400 ALK, plus the DLT 300 and DLR 360 with some limitations. USB-C supports charging and adjustable line-level input and output, while two charging contacts provide compatibility with the CHG 412.
The listed charging system accommodates 12 units and provides 5 VDC at 0.5 A per bay. Its universal DC adapter delivers 5 VDC at 6 A with center-positive polarity and accepts 90–240 VAC input at 1.5 A maximum. Approximate charging time is five hours, and charge status is shown on the connected DLT or DLR units. The listed enclosure measures 9 inches long by 7 inches wide by 1.5 inches high and weighs 1.8 pounds.
For Interpretation, Tour, and Hearing Assistance modes using four or fewer microphones, the listed audio frequency response is 100 Hz to 11,500 Hz. Other modes provide a specified response of 100 Hz to 7,200 Hz. The system has a 73 dB A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio at the default receiver volume with microphone input and 0.1 percent total harmonic distortion at the default volume and 1 kHz.
An internal microphone is provided and is disabled when the microphone jack is engaged. The 3.5 mm microphone connection supplies electret microphone bias and offers adjustable gain across a 63 dB range. A 3.5 mm TRRS headphone jack delivers 25 mW into 32 ohms. Side tone is set 6 dB below volume, with Off, Low, and High tone settings available. A red LED surrounds the Talk button when enabled, while a bi-color LED at the top changes between green and red.
Unlike a listening-only tour receiver arrangement, this portable intercom allows all 12 participants to talk and listen wirelessly. FSK modulation, a maximum RF output of 19 dBm, encryption controls, and a settings lock provide a defined wireless communications platform. The combination of an internal microphone, external microphone support, adjustable USB-C line input and output, and configurable side tone accommodates several audio connection methods without adding unsupported operating claims.
The supplied technical data also specifies an operating temperature range of 14 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit, or -10 to 45 degrees Celsius. Listed approvals include CE, FCC, WEEE, RoHS, and CB.
The Digi-Wave 400 Series system brings together 12-person two-way wireless communication, up to 900 feet of operating range, approximately five-hour charging, and up to 16 hours of talk time per charge. Its FHSS operation, encryption options, receiver compatibility, microphone connections, and 12-bay charging support make it a technically well-defined choice for rechargeable tour, interpretation, and hearing-assistance communication. The product carries a two-year warranty, with cables and the power supply covered for 90 days.
