Key Features
The RDL DB-RLC10M is a black remote level control for systems using RDL VCA modules. It supports a single control point or multiple control locations, making it suitable when level and mute functions must be available from more than one position. Up to ten remote control locations can be used. The optical rotary encoder provides direct level adjustment, while a momentary pushbutton controls muting and includes an LED indicator. A visual display shows the operating level, allowing the current setting to be checked at the control location.
This model combines level adjustment, mute control, visual level indication, and an integral 0 to 10 Vdc ramp generator in one wall-mount control. The display remains bright during adjustment so changes are easy to follow, then dims after adjustment. At power-up, the DB-RLC10M can return to the last level or a stored preset level. Compatibility with all RDL VCA modules provides a defined integration path for systems already using RDL voltage-controlled amplifier products. The supplied model has a black finish; the product family is also available in stainless steel and white versions.
The DB-RLC10M mounts in a standard US electrical box or in RDL WB- or SMB-series boxes. A cover plate is available separately. The unit measures 4.11 inches high by 1.31 inches wide. Listed depth is 0.98 inch without the knob, with the source data also specifying an overall depth of 0.545 inch and 3.93 cm. Power requirements are 24 Vdc at 50 mA with a ground-referenced supply. Its ramp connection operates from 0 to 10 Vdc, serving as an input in Slave mode and an output in Master mode. Two open-collector pulse outputs, identified as UP and DOWN, are rated at 20 mA.
System planning should account for the separately available cover plate, the selected electrical or RDL mounting box, the 24 Vdc power requirement, and the appropriate Master or Slave ramp configuration.
The level control uses an optical rotary encoder with rotation-dependent acceleration. Approximate minimum-to-maximum travel is five rotations when turned slowly without acceleration, three rotations at medium speed with acceleration, and one fast counterclockwise rotation. The minimum interval between consecutive pulses is 500 microseconds. Pulse duration ranges from a minimum of 500 microseconds to a maximum of 4 milliseconds.
The DB-RLC10M brings several control functions together without requiring a separate level display or mute indicator at the operating position. Its encoder acceleration changes the amount of rotation needed according to turning speed, supporting both slower multi-turn adjustment and faster movement across the level range. The display behavior keeps the level indication bright while adjustments are being made and reduces its brightness after the adjustment. Master and Slave ramp operation further distinguishes the control by allowing the 0 to 10 Vdc connection to function as either an output or an input, according to the selected operating mode.
The RDL DB-RLC10M is a focused control interface for RDL VCA-based systems that require remote level adjustment and muting. Its black wall-mount format incorporates an optical rotary encoder, LED-indicated momentary mute button, visual operating-level display, and 0 to 10 Vdc ramp capability. Support for as many as ten control locations accommodates both single-point and multi-location layouts. With defined pulse timing, UP and DOWN open-collector outputs, configurable power-up behavior, and mounting support for standard US electrical boxes and RDL enclosures, the DB-RLC10M provides the essential control and integration details needed for system design.
