Key Features
The Vivitek DK8500Z is designed for large-venue applications that require substantial light output, UHD detail, and flexible projector placement. It delivers 7,500 ANSI lumens and UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160 with SP on, producing the full 8.3 million pixels associated with 4K UHD. A native 16:9 aspect ratio and support for video formats through 4K UHD make it suitable for presenting high-resolution content on a large scale. Eight optional interchangeable lenses cover a wide throw-ratio range, allowing the projection system to be configured around the requirements of the selected venue and screen position.
The DK8500Z combines high brightness with a lamp-free laser light source rated for up to 20,000 hours of operation. This long-lasting illumination system reduces the maintenance associated with conventional projector lamps. Its 10,000:1 contrast ratio complements the UHD imaging system, while single-chip DLP® technology from Texas Instruments and a 0.66-inch DMD form the core of the projection platform. The projector also offers 360-degree setup flexibility, giving installers additional freedom when determining its operating orientation. Motorized optical controls further simplify adjustments after the projector has been positioned.
Installation flexibility is a central feature of the DK8500Z. Its eight optional lenses provide throw ratios ranging from 0.377:1 through 5.31-8.26:1, with the final image size and projection distance determined by the chosen lens. Motorized zoom and focus support remote optical adjustment. Motorized lens shift offers a vertical range of +64% to -33% and a horizontal range of +24% to -14%. Keystone correction extends to ±40 degrees vertically and ±60 degrees horizontally.
Connection options include two HDMI 2.0 ports, DisplayPort, 3G-SDI input and output, a wired remote jack, RS-232, HDBaseT, and LAN. Two RJ45 connections are provided, with one allocated to HDBaseT and one to LAN. The chassis measures 500 x 580 x 205 mm and weighs 28 kg, details that should be incorporated into structural and placement planning. Power input supports AC 100-240 V at 50/60 Hz, while standby consumption is listed at less than 0.5 W. Normal-mode noise is rated at 40 dB.
The projector supports a maximum resolution of UHD 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz. Its video compatibility spans SDTV formats at 480i and 576i, EDTV formats at 480p and 576p, and HDTV formats including 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 4K UHD. The combination of 7,500 ANSI lumens, a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, and 8.3 million displayed pixels addresses the brightness and image-detail requirements of large-venue projection. The laser light source maintains the lamp-free design while providing an operating-life rating of up to 20,000 hours.
The DK8500Z stands apart through the breadth of its installation system. Rather than relying on a single fixed optical configuration, it supports eight optional lenses covering ultra-wide through long-throw requirements within the stated throw-ratio range. Motorized zoom, focus, and lens shift allow important image adjustments to be made through powered controls. Its connection panel also accommodates conventional HDMI and DisplayPort sources alongside integration-oriented connections such as 3G-SDI, HDBaseT, LAN, RS-232, and a wired remote jack.
Standard accessories include a remote control cable, AC power cord, user manual on CD, lens cap, region-dependent warranty card, and remote controller with battery. Remote control part number 5042221900 is also listed as an optional accessory. Warranty coverage is stated as five years for the projector and five years or 20,000 hours for the laser phosphor illumination source, whichever comes first.
The Vivitek DK8500Z is a purpose-built large-venue projector centered on 7,500 ANSI-lumen output, UHD imaging, a long-life laser source, and extensive installation control. Its motorized optics, wide lens-selection range, 360-degree setup flexibility, and professional connection options provide a strong foundation for customized projection systems. Because image size, projection distance, and throw ratio depend on the optional lens selected, lens choice should be treated as an essential part of system planning. For installations requiring UHD resolution and flexible positioning, the DK8500Z offers a clearly defined combination of performance and integration features.
