Key Features
The RDL FP-TPSR4A is a combination Format-A sender and receiver module designed for hotel and guest-room audio systems. It handles television fixed-output audio, amplified mono sources, Format-A distribution, and television AUX-input feeds in one ultra-compact, all-metal unit. Two RJ45 Format-A outputs distribute high-quality left- and right-channel audio while the receiver section provides unbalanced RCA outputs from Format-A signal pairs B and C.
This model is suited to hotel-room installations that need to route audio between a television, a mono amplifier, and compatible RDL Format-A modules. In sender applications, it accepts the fixed audio output from a television or another fixed-level stereo source. It can also accept a balanced mono amplified signal. In receiver applications, it works with two-pair Format-A senders such as the D-TPS8A and supplies audio for the AUX input of a television.
The FP-TPSR4A places sender, receiver, and power-distribution functions in a single metal enclosure. Its sender section accepts two 20 kΩ unbalanced inputs for left and right audio, plus one 100 Ω balanced input for amplified mono audio. The module sends left and right channels through two RJ45 Format-A outputs. Its receiver section accepts RDL Format-A and provides two -10 dBV stereo unbalanced outputs on RCA phono connectors, with the left output derived from pair B and the right output from pair C.
Unbalanced source audio connects through phono jacks, while the balanced amplified input uses a mini-jack. The specified unbalanced input level is 10 dBV. The balanced input accommodates amplifier outputs from 1 W into 8 ohms through 10 W into 8 ohms, with 2 W nominal. Format-A distribution uses RJ45 connections and signal pairs B and C. The receiver outputs connect by RCA phono and can feed the AUX input of the television.
Power is connected through a locking power jack. The module requires 24 Vdc at 35 mA plus the requirements of connected loads and supports a maximum load current of 500 mA. It distributes power to connected modules, and the output voltage incorporates an automatically resetting fuse. The enclosure measures 6.58 inches long, 3.25 inches wide, and 1.68 inches high.
The specified frequency response extends from 10 Hz to 50 kHz within ±0.1 dB. THD+N is below 0.05%, while noise below +4 dBu is less than -85 dB. Crosstalk is below -85 dB from 10 Hz to 10 kHz and below -80 dB from 10 kHz to 20 kHz. Headroom is greater than 18 dB above +4 dBu and greater than 20 dB above the receiver section’s -10 dBV output level. These specifications support wide-bandwidth audio distribution with defined noise, separation, distortion, and level margins.
Unlike a single-purpose sender or receiver, the FP-TPSR4A combines both roles while distributing power to other connected modules. It supports unbalanced stereo source audio, balanced mono amplified audio, two RJ45 Format-A outputs, and an RDL Format-A receiver in the same compact assembly. The explicit pair assignment keeps the received channels defined: pair B supplies the left output, and pair C supplies the right output. Compatibility with two-pair senders such as the D-TPS8A provides a documented integration path.
The FP-TPSR4A is a focused choice for hotel-room audio designs requiring television audio transmission and reception over RDL Format-A connections. Its combination of stereo and amplified-mono inputs, dual RJ45 outputs, RCA receiver outputs, connected-module power distribution, locking power connection, automatically resetting fuse, and all-metal construction addresses the core signal and power requirements of this application in one module.
