Key Features
The RDL RU-TPDA is an active twisted-pair distributor designed for the RDL TP Format-A system. One RJ45 input accepts signals from all Format-A senders, while four RJ45 outputs drive Format-A receivers. A separate RJ45 LOOP OUT supports connection to an additional distributor. The module also powers connected senders and receivers and provides visual level and power-status indication, combining signal distribution, expansion, and power support in a compact enclosure.
The RU-TPDA is designed for Format-A installations that need to distribute one incoming feed to as many as four receivers. It is also suited to systems that may require additional distribution capacity through the LOOP OUT connection or the power bus for adjacent distributors.
The module uses Format-A signal pairs A, B, and C, with a dual-LED VU meter displaying the level on each pair.
Each RU-TPDA can drive four Format-A receivers from its single Format-A input. Compatibility with all Format-A senders and receivers makes it a direct distribution component within an RDL TP Format-A system. The dedicated LOOP OUT provides an expansion route without replacing the four receiver outputs, while the power bus supports expansion to adjacent distributors.
Power delivery is integrated into the module, allowing it to power all connected senders and receivers. The blue power LED confirms that the RU-TPDA is receiving dc power, and four rear-panel LEDs indicate correct output voltage on the RJ45 connections.
The input, four receiver outputs, and LOOP OUT connection use RJ45 jacks. Connect an RDL TP Format-A sender to the input, then connect up to four RDL TP Format-A receivers to the output jacks. When another distribution stage is required, the RJ45 LOOP OUT can feed an additional distributor.
Three power connections are provided: two power jacks and one detachable terminal block. The stated power requirement is 24 Vdc at 120 mA plus the requirements of connected loads. Recommended power supplies are the PS-24AS for the USA and the PS-24AX for international use; the power supply is not included.
The enclosure measures 5.8 inches wide, 1.7 inches high, and 3.25 inches deep. It supports high-density rack mounting with RACK-UP accessories and is specified for operation in ambient temperatures from 0° C to 55° C.
The RU-TPDA has a specified frequency response of 10 Hz to 50 kHz within ±0.1 dB. THD+N is less than 0.005%, with more than 18 dB of headroom above +4 dBu. CMRR is greater than 80 dB from 50 Hz to 150 Hz, and noise below +4 dBu is specified at less than 90 dB.
Crosstalk is specified at less than 90 dB at 1 kHz and less than 75 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Eleven indicators provide operating feedback: one Power In indicator, four Power Out indicators, and six LEDs arranged as three dual-LED VU meters.
The RU-TPDA combines four-output active Format-A distribution with two distinct expansion provisions. The LOOP OUT can feed another distributor, while the power bus serves adjacent distributor expansion. Integrated power for connected senders and receivers reduces the number of separate power arrangements required within the Format-A system.
Its indicator layout also provides information at multiple points: the three VU meters show levels across pairs A, B, and C; the blue LED confirms incoming dc power; and the rear-panel LEDs verify correct output voltage on the RJ45s.
The RDL RU-TPDA is a focused solution for distributing one RDL TP Format-A input to four receivers while retaining a LOOP OUT for further expansion. Its 10 Hz to 50 kHz response, low specified THD+N, integrated sender and receiver power, signal-pair metering, and compact rack-mountable format provide the essential capabilities for an expandable Format-A distribution system. A compatible 24 Vdc power supply must be selected separately.
