Product Overview
The RDL DB-TPSL1A is an active single-pair Format-A sender that combines left and right unbalanced stereo from dual RCA jacks or a mini-jack into mono. Its switch routes audio to RJ45 pair A, B, or C, while signal and power pass through for daisy-chaining.

Key Features
The RDL DB-TPSL1A is designed for audio distribution systems that need to accept a stereo source and place a mono signal onto one pair of an RDL TP Format-A cable. Dual RCA phono jacks and a mini-jack provide the two specified input connection options, while the active circuitry combines the left and right channels into a mono output. The model is particularly useful when an installation requires the sender to be assigned to RJ45 pair A, B, or C instead of using a fixed signal pair. It also supports systems that use remote powering through twisted-pair cable or daisy-chain single-pair and two-pair Format-A senders.
Unlike a passive connection adapter, the DB-TPSL1A uses studio-quality precision active balanced circuitry. Its 10 kΩ unbalanced left and right input feeds an RDL TP Format-A output, and the pair-selection switch determines which RJ45 pair carries the signal. Signal and power pairs pass through between the TP CABLE RJ45 jacks, allowing the module to become part of a connected Format-A signal chain. Local power can also feed connected modules through a fused circuit. A blue LED provides a clear indication that the module is powered.
Connect the stereo source through either the mini-jack or the dual RCA phono jacks, then set the switch for Format-A pair A, B, or C. The Format-A input and output connections use RJ45 interfaces, with signal and power pair pass-through between the TP CABLE jacks. Power may be supplied remotely through the twisted-pair cable or locally through the detachable terminal block. The local requirement is 24 Vdc at 25 mA plus the requirements of any connected loads. Recommended power supplies, which are not included, are the PS-24AS for the USA and the PS-24AX for international use.
The module measures 1.6 inches wide by 4.11 inches high by 1.89 inches deep, equivalent to 4.06 by 10.45 by 4.8 cm. Installation requires a mounting box with a minimum depth of 2.4 inches, or 6.1 cm. The specified ambient operating range is 0° C to 55° C. These dimensions, power requirements, and box-depth specifications should be confirmed when planning the installation and connected load.
The DB-TPSL1A has a specified frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz within ±0.25 dB. THD+N is less than 0.05% across the same 20 Hz to 20 kHz range, while the listed noise performance is below -90 dB. Headroom is greater than 18 dB. The specified input level is 10 dBV, with a 10 kΩ unbalanced impedance for both left and right inputs. Together, these published values define the module’s audio performance from its stereo input stage through its mono RDL TP Format-A output.
This model combines several functions in one Format-A sender: stereo-to-mono combining, selectable signal-pair assignment, active balanced output circuitry, signal and power pass-through, and local or remote powering. Pair selection is especially valuable in a multi-pair Format-A installation because the mono program can be placed on pair A, B, or C as required. The pass-through arrangement also permits daisy-chaining with compatible single-pair or two-pair Format-A senders. When local power is used, its fused feed supplies connected modules as well as the DB-TPSL1A, subject to the stated requirement for connected loads.
The black RDL DB-TPSL1A is a focused solution for combining dual-channel unbalanced audio into mono and transporting it through an RDL TP Format-A system. It offers dual RCA and mini-jack source connections, switch-selectable pair routing, RJ45 signal and power pass-through, and precise published audio specifications. Its support for remote cable power and fused local distribution makes it suitable for interconnected Format-A layouts. A 24 Vdc supply is required, and the recommended PS-24AS or PS-24AX supply must be obtained separately.
