Key Features
The Williams AV IR+ Secure with Dante, SKU IR SY12 D, combines rack-mounted infrared audio control with flexible input processing, emitter connectivity, and browser-based configuration. The modulator occupies one rack unit and measures 19 inches wide by 1.75 inches high by 8.2 inches deep. Its two-channel architecture supports microphone or line-level sources, while front-panel monitoring and built-in diagnostic tools simplify system setup and operation.
This model is suited to fixed installations that require selectable infrared carrier frequencies, centralized audio processing, and distribution to multiple emitters. Coverage is rated at up to 18,000 square feet in single-channel mode. The supplied technical data also lists receiver range of up to 15,000 square feet in single-channel mode when used with an IR T2 transmitter. Selectable carrier frequencies of 2.3/2.8 MHz or 3.3/3.8 MHz support different system configurations.
The IR+ platform provides two combination three-pin XLR and 1/4-inch TRS inputs. Each input accepts balanced or unbalanced line-level audio as well as balanced or unbalanced microphone signals with selectable phantom power. DSP-based audio processing includes selectable compression ratios of 1:1, 1.5:1, or 2:1, plus controllable high-pass and low-pass filter frequencies. Electrical frequency response is rated from 40 Hz to 16,000 Hz at +1 dB/-3 dB, with a typical 67 dB signal-to-noise ratio and less than 2% total harmonic distortion.
A single-rack-unit chassis allows the modulator to fit standard rack installations. Four RJ-45 emitter-output ports carry +48 VDC power, RS-485 communication, and baseband infrared transmission signals over CAT5e cable. The international desktop power supply accepts 110-240 VAC at 50-60 Hz and provides +48 VDC at 0.75 A through a center-positive output. Remote configuration is available through an embedded website, allowing supported settings to be adjusted without relying solely on front-panel controls. Two front-panel 1/4-inch headphone outputs provide separate monitoring for Channel A and Channel B audio inputs.
FM wideband modulation uses ±50 kHz deviation with 50 µs pre-emphasis. An adjustable automatic carrier shut-off timer can disable the carrier when audio is absent, with adjustment available through the webpage. A selectable 400 Hz internal test tone provides a known audio source for setup and diagnostics. Dual infrared test LEDs support receiver testing, monitoring, and audio-signal verification. Associated receiver specifications list 2.3 MHz, 2.8 MHz, or stereo operation, a volume thumbwheel, a three-position frequency-selection switch, and an on/off power slider.
The combination of embedded-web configuration, DSP audio controls, dedicated channel-monitoring outputs, and integrated test functions gives installers several ways to configure and verify operation. Dante is identified for this model, while the technical data characterizes Dante as optional; the required configuration should therefore be matched to SKU IR SY12 D. Listed receiver data includes compatibility with 2.3 MHz and 2.8 MHz infrared transmitters, a 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack, LiPo battery power, and an eight-hour battery life. Charging data identifies the CHG 520 charger, five-unit capacity, and individual red LED charging indicators.
The IR+ Secure with Dante is a structured infrared audio solution for installations needing dual audio inputs, four CAT5e-connected emitter outputs, remote configuration, and practical diagnostic features. The modulator has a black metal-and-plastic construction and is specified for operation from 0-50°C in a non-condensing, non-corrosive atmosphere. Listed approvals include CE, FCC, RoHS, RCM, WEEE, CB Scheme, ISED, and VCCI. Warranty coverage is two years for the modulator and 90 days for accessories.
