The RDL FP-SPR1 is designed for S/PDIF signal paths that require level correction after a long line, waveform reshaping or conversion between connector types. It is suited to systems where digital audio equipment uses a mixture of 75 Ω BNC coaxial, 75 Ω phono coaxial and optical connections. With all three connector formats available on both the input and output sides, the module can bridge otherwise incompatible S/PDIF connections while restoring the signal to the specified coaxial output level. The FP-SPR1 combines signal repetition, amplification, connector conversion and waveform reshaping in one compact module. Its coaxial inputs accept levels from 100 mV to 2.5 V p-p, allowing the unit to receive a wide range of incoming signal amplitudes. The coaxial output is delivered at 500 mV p-p. A signal-present LED provides immediate confirmation when the received input has sufficient amplitude for the module to produce the correct output. These capabilities make the FP-SPR1 a focused solution for maintaining a usable S/PDIF signal without requiring separate devices for level restoration and connector conversion.
The module measures 1.34 inches high by 3.25 inches wide by 2.82 inches long, equivalent to 3.40 by 8.26 by 7.16 centimeters. Input choices consist of 75 Ω BNC coaxial, 75 Ω phono coaxial and optical, with the same three formats provided for output integration. The FP-SPR1 requires ground-referenced 24 Vdc at 80 mA and may operate from 12 Vdc in standalone installations. The recommended power supplies are the PS-24AS for the USA and PS-24AX for international use; the power supply is not included. Its specified ambient operating range is 10°C to 55°C.
The FP-SPR1 is engineered to correct S/PDIF signal levels received over long lines and reshape the incoming waveform before output. Its specified frequency range is 28 kHz to 48 kHz. Jitter is less than 200 pS when the input signal is 200 mV p-p or greater. With a 100 mV p-p input signal, jitter remains below 1 nS. This defined performance gives system designers clear operating thresholds when integrating the repeater into a digital audio path. The signal LED further supports setup and troubleshooting by illuminating when the input amplitude is sufficient to generate the correct module output.
A central advantage of the FP-SPR1 is its combination of electrical and optical S/PDIF connectivity. Rather than limiting an installation to one physical interface, it provides BNC coaxial, phono coaxial and optical connection formats on both sides of the signal path. This allows connector conversion to be handled alongside level correction and waveform reshaping. The broad 100 mV to 2.5 V p-p coaxial input range accommodates both reduced-level and higher-level incoming signals, while the specified 500 mV p-p coaxial output establishes a consistent output level.
