The RDL TX-AVX is an automatic 2×1 BNC video switch designed to monitor a primary video signal and change over to a secondary source when video loss is detected. It recognizes both NTSC and PAL signals and accepts ground-referenced video from 0.5 V p-p to 1 V p-p. Along with automatic source switching, the unit provides a dry-contact relay output and a slave output for communicating video-present status to other equipment.
The TX-AVX is suited to video systems that require a secondary source to be selected automatically after loss of the primary signal. Its NTSC and PAL detection supports either of those video standards without requiring separate models. The slave terminal also allows the module to serve as a video-present detector. When status notification is needed, it can be used with RDL BZR Alert Modules for convenient notification of a change in video status.
This model combines automatic video changeover, loss-of-video detection, and external status signaling in one unit. The input and output connections use ground-referenced BNC interfaces, while the output is intended for connection to a 75-ohm terminated load. A single-pole, single-throw dry-contact relay provides a separate control or status interface, with a maximum switching power specification of 60 W at the listed ratings of 220 Vdc, 125 Vac, and 2 A.
The TX-AVX also provides a slave output that switches to ground when a valid input signal is present. This gives an integrated system a direct way to respond to detected video without relying only on the switched video output.
Connect the ground-referenced video sources through the BNC inputs and connect the BNC output to equipment terminated with a 75-ohm load. Input video level must be within the specified range of 0.5 V p-p to 1 V p-p. The module detects a valid NTSC or PAL input and performs the automatic switching function associated with primary and secondary video operation.
Power may be supplied from either AC or DC. The ground-referenced power requirement is 12 to 33 Vdc or 12 to 24 Vac at 100 mA. Recommended power-supply models are the PS-24AS for the USA and the PS-24AX for international use; the power supply is not included. For status integration, installers can use the SPST relay contacts or the slave terminal, depending on the required interface. The specified ambient operating range is 0 degrees C to 55 degrees C.
The TX-AVX does more than route one of two video sources. It evaluates whether a valid NTSC or PAL signal is present and makes video status available through both relay and slave interfaces. That combination supports automatic source selection and status response from the same module. Its broad specified power input ranges also allow operation with compatible AC or DC supplies.
