Key Features
The RDL FP-PEQ3 is a highly versatile three-band parametric equalizer designed for precise, independent control of frequency, boost or cut, and bandwidth. Its adjustable coverage spans 15 Hz to 20 kHz, while each filter provides a bandwidth range from 0.04 to 1.5 octaves and an amplitude range of ±15 dB. Balanced terminal-block and unbalanced phono connections accommodate +4 dBu and −10 dBV audio paths, and output-level metering provides a visible reference during setup and adjustment.
The FP-PEQ3 is suited to audio systems that require targeted correction across low-, mid-, and high-frequency regions. Its three switch-selectable frequency ranges cover 15 Hz to 200 Hz, 150 Hz to 2 kHz, and 1.5 kHz to 20 kHz. This broad range makes the equalizer useful for acoustic adjustment, correcting specific frequency problems, or refining overall system response. It is also a practical choice when an installation includes either balanced terminal-block wiring or unbalanced phono connections.
Each of the three filters is independently adjustable, giving the operator direct control over frequency, boost or cut amplitude, and bandwidth. The narrowest 0.04-octave setting supports highly focused adjustments, while settings up to 1.5 octaves permit broader tonal changes. Boost or cut is adjustable across ±15 dB and is switch-selectable for easier acoustic adjustment. Adjustable gain from off to +3 dB provides additional output-level control, while the built-in output-level meter helps monitor the resulting signal.
The input section provides a +4 dBu balanced connection on a detachable terminal block and a −10 dBV unbalanced phono jack. Corresponding outputs include +4 dBu balanced audio on a plug-in terminal block and −10 dBV unbalanced audio through a phono jack. Input impedance is 10 kΩ for both the balanced bridging and unbalanced inputs. The unit requires ground-referenced 24 Vdc at 120 mA. Recommended power supplies are the PS-24AS for the USA and PS-24AX for international use; the power supply is not included.
Listed dimensions are 1.42 by 3.25 by 5.66 inches, equivalent to 3.61 by 8.26 by 14.38 centimeters. The specified ambient operating range is 0°C to 50°C. The FP-PEQ3 uses the RDL FLAT-PAK format and combines terminal-block wiring with phono-jack access in one unit.
With the filters set flat, frequency response is specified from 10 Hz to 20 kHz within ±0.25 dB. THD+N is less than 0.005%, and noise is specified below −90 dB relative to +4 dB. For the balanced input, common-mode rejection is rated at 50 dB at 100 Hz. These measurements complement the independently adjustable filters and support the stated studio-quality, low-noise performance. The overlapping frequency bands allow adjustments to be placed throughout the equalizer’s 15 Hz to 20 kHz operating range.
The FP-PEQ3 combines three independently adjustable filters with unusually broad control over each filter’s bandwidth and amplitude. Rather than limiting adjustment to a single parameter, it provides control of frequency, boost or cut, and bandwidth. Its switch-selectable frequency ranges, ±15 dB adjustment, and 0.04- to 1.5-octave bandwidth allow either tightly focused or broader correction. Balanced and unbalanced connection options, output-level metering, and the RDL FLAT-PAK form factor bring those controls together in a compact installation format.
For systems requiring detailed three-band equalization, the FP-PEQ3 offers documented control from 15 Hz to 20 kHz, independent filter adjustment, and both balanced and unbalanced connectivity. Its low THD+N, specified low-noise performance, flat-filter frequency response, and output metering make it a strong fit for careful audio-system adjustment. Installation planning should include a compatible 24 Vdc power supply because one is not supplied with the unit.
