Key Features
The Williams AV FM ADA Kit 1 is intended for venues that need an assistive listening solution while accommodating up to 50 people. Its straightforward plug-and-play format helps address ADA assistive listening requirements with a package built around the PPA T27 FM transmitter, two PPA R37 receivers, and the NKL 001. The system operates within the 72–76 MHz band and provides 17 available channels. This configuration is suited to venues whose audience capacity and required receiver count align with the stated scope of the kit.
The PPA T27 transmitter provides external, lockable frequency switches for all 17 channels. Its listed operating frequencies extend from 72.1 to 75.9 MHz, while the specified nominal range reaches up to 1,000 feet or 305 meters when used with the standard ANT 021 antenna or optional ANT 005 coaxial antenna. A 3.5 mm microphone input supplies DC power for electret microphones. The RCA high-impedance, unbalanced line-level input accepts nominal levels from 0.1 to 1 Vrms, and a screwdriver-adjustable input attenuator supports source-level adjustment. These controls provide documented options for integrating microphone or line-level audio.
The PPA T27 uses 105–130 VAC at 50–60 Hz and consumes 3.2 W at 120 VAC. Its antenna connections support an ANT 021 rubber duckie or ANT 025 telescoping antenna through the thread mount, as well as an ANT 024 dipole or ANT 005 coaxial antenna through the RF connector. Each PPA R37 receiver operates on two AA alkaline or two AA NiMH batteries. Two BAT 001 non-rechargeable alkaline batteries provide approximately 50 hours of operation. The receiver uses its earphone or headphone cord as the receive antenna and provides a 3.5 mm stereo/mono output jack. Channel seeking is accessed through a button in the battery compartment.
The PPA R37 specifications include a 200 Hz–15 kHz frequency response, 75 kHz FM deviation, 75 µS de-emphasis, and an AFC range of ±120 kHz. Signal-to-noise performance is listed at 65 dB minimum with a 100 µV signal. The receiver delivers up to 35 mW peak into 16 ohms and has a listed input-overload level of 100 mV. Its green LED indicates power and flashes green when the battery is low. After approximately six minutes without an RF signal, the receiver enters sleep mode. Transmitter specifications include ±0.005% stability from 0–50°C, 75 µS pre-emphasis, and 1% maximum total harmonic distortion.
FM ADA Kit 1 combines transmitting and receiving components instead of supplying a transmitter alone. The two PPA R37 receivers provide 17-channel access, approximately 50-hour operation with the specified alkaline batteries, low-battery indication, and automatic sleep behavior. The NKL 001 uses a 3.5 mm mono plug and accepts up to 500 mW input. Its magnetic-field specification states that 25 mW at 1,000 Hz produces 1.7 A/m six inches above the center of the loop, while 85 µW produces 0.1 A/m under the IEC standard. The supplied technical information also lists FCC, Industry Canada, RoHS, and WEEE approvals.
For venues within the stated capacity of up to 50 people, this kit provides a documented signal path from a microphone or line-level source through the PPA T27 transmitter to two portable PPA R37 receivers. Its principal technical advantages are 17 selectable FM channels, a published range of up to 1,000 feet under the specified antenna conditions, approximately 50 hours of receiver battery life, and a versatile 3.5 mm receiver output. The PPA R37 dimensions are 4.1 by 2.85 by 1.38 inches, while the PPA T27 measures 4.1 inches wide by 6.1 inches long by 1.3 inches high and weighs 7.8 ounces. A one-year warranty is listed.
