Key Features
The RDL RCX-5CM is a room-combining system controller designed to manage audio sources and amplifier inputs for up to five rooms. It addresses installations where rooms may operate independently or in combined arrangements while routing, volume adjustment, microphone use, and paging remain coordinated through one controller. Its programmable operation accommodates a wide range of room layouts.
Each room supports a mic and/or line input, and this model includes mic muting. A music input may be selected from a room that is not included in the current combination. A paging input can also override normal operation when required, allowing routine program audio and priority paging to share the system.
The RCX-5CM brings source control, amplifier-input management, per-room adjustment, metering, and configuration memory into a single five-room controller. Its programming and operation are designed to be simple and straightforward, while still providing the flexibility needed for varied room arrangements.
The controller connects to wall-mounted remote input panels, allowing room inputs to be integrated at convenient locations within the system. Per-room mic and line input support enables the installer to configure input types according to the needs of each space. Front-panel volume controls provide direct adjustment at the controller.
The recommended power supply is not included. RDL lists the PS-24V3A for USA applications and the PS-24V3 for international applications. The specified ambient operating range is 0 degrees C to 50 degrees C.
For systems extending beyond a single controller, two RCX-5CM controllers may be linked. A PDF manual is listed in the source data, along with American DXF front- and rear-panel diagrams and engineering functional-block CAD material for installation planning and system documentation.
RDL Dual-LED VU metering is provided for each source, giving the operator a visible indication of source levels. Each room also has its own front-panel volume adjustment. These controls make it possible to review source activity and adjust individual room levels directly from the controller.
Switching and gain control are fully electronic and include memory. The programmable room-combining architecture manages normal source operation while retaining the option for paging to take priority. Music selection from a non-combined room adds further routing flexibility when rooms are being used in different configurations.
The RCX-5CM combines five-room control with per-room mic and/or line inputs, mic muting, individual volume adjustment, source metering, and stored electronic control. The ability to select music from a non-combined room distinguishes its source-management design from a fixed room grouping.
Its paging override provides a defined priority path when normal operation must be interrupted. Linking support for two controllers also gives larger systems an expansion option while retaining the same controller platform and operating approach.
The RDL RCX-5CM is a focused choice for controlling audio sources and amplifier inputs across as many as five rooms. It provides the essential functions described for configurable room operation: individual mic and line inputs, mic muting, paging override, per-room volume controls, dual-LED VU metering, and electronic switching and gain memory.
Installation planning should account for the separately required regional power supply and any wall-mounted remote input panels used by the system. For shipping reference, the cardboard package measures 19 x 1.75 x 8 inches and has a listed shipping weight of 6.33 pounds.
